What We Love About It
Tensira fabrics are 100% cotton, hand-spun, hand-woven and hand-dyed in Guinea, West Africa. Designed in France, Tensira offers a range of stripes, indigos and tie-dye fabrics. We have selected the most complimentary styles to suit the modern Australian home.
Tensira’s indigos are dyed with vegetal indigo, and the tie-dye patterns are created by individual stitches. One meter of tie-dye fabric contains about 3,600 stitches that are sewn and then unsewn after dying.
This level of craftsmanship makes Tensira’s products unique and gives them a level of quality unmatched by similar mass produced products.
This is a handmade product and each piece is unique. Tiny gaps or inclusions in the weaving or blemishes in the dye are part of the product and are not considered inferior.
As seen in Vogue and Elle Decoration.
Things to Know
Includes a recycled PET cushion insert.
These clever inserts are filled with 100% PET fibre, which is derived from recycled water bottles. They look and feel similar to a high-grade polyester cushion insert, but have a greater resilience rating and will last for much longer. For every 1kg of fibre used, we save more than 70 water bottles from landfill.

The Story Behind It
Husband and wife team Hamidou Diallo and Tuulia Makinen Diallo launched Tensira in 2010 with the aim of creating upscale home linen and fashion accessories with an African twist. Based in Paris, their unique fabrics and designs are a fusion between European design and traditional West-African craftsmanship.
Tensira’s products originate from the Republic of Guinea, West Africa. Named after a small village known for its specialisation in indigo dyeing, all Tensira’s products are 100% cotton, hand-spun, hand-woven and hand-dyed in their Guinea workshops.
The workshops employ more than 40 full-time staff and collaborate with dozens of independent craftsmen. Tensira’s goal is to create long-lasting employment for West-African craft communities while keeping traditional skills and crafts alive.
