Asuka Cup - Grey
The elegant Asuka Cup will let you experience the mindfulness of a Japanese tea ceremony with every sip.
Featuring a tactile speckled grey body, the Asuka cup is made from clay and locally-sourced river water - a gesture that forever connects this cup to the land upon which it was made. The glazed interior and unglazed exterior allows you to see and feel the uniqueness of the material.
The cup is handleless and encourages you to pause until your tea has cooled before you take a sip. Though if you enjoy a milk coffee, the heat transfer is perfect - trust us, we've tested it!
Each piece is a work of art.

The Story Behind It
Clyde Arnott is a self-taught ceramicist living and working on Ngunnawal land. Using unconventional carving techniques, Clyde’s work is inspired by the Brutalist architecture and abundance of concrete that contributes to Canberra’s unique scenery.
Remaining true to the style, Clyde chooses to work with neutral coloured clays, keeping their shapes and textures both raw and minimal. Using locally-sourced riverwater to moisten the clay, he forever connects his work to the land upon which it was made. It’s Clyde’s belief that the essence of nature is, and always should be, present within artificial creations - much like the rich bushland that coexists with Canberra’s Brutalist makeup.
