The Artisanal Cheese Knife is an exquisite Australian-designed tool that you'll treasure for life. 

Co-designed by Gingerfinch and local knifemaker, Dan Venables, this stunning cheese knife is forged in carbon steel, giving it a blackened, moon-like texture. The knife is perfectly weighted with a flat blade. The handle is curved so your knuckles don't get squashed on the cheese board when you cut through the cheese. 

Dan makes each knife in his Canberra studio, spending around 4 hours heating and hammering to create the unique, ergonomic shape. We adore the forge-finished texture: the roughness helps with food release, and over time, the cheese acidity will imbue a fabulous rainbow patina on the steel - just like oil on water. Each handmade cheese knife carries its own signature - no two are the same. 

The Forged Steel Artisanal Cheese Knife makes a divine wedding gift, birthday gift or Christmas gift for those who have everything and who enjoy the finer things in life. The Story Behind It

Dan Venables trained as a glassblower at university but started and carving spoons from greenwood in his spare time. Eventually he needed a specialised knife for his woodcarving, and rather than buying one, he decided to make his own. His love of knifemaking had begun.

Dan strives to make excellent quality tools that will last a lifetime. The majority of the timber he uses for his knife handles is reclaimed - either from local suppliers, or timber he salvages himself. Dan has a real passion for making things with his hands - and we think he is rather good at it.
